A poetic documentary performance about women who leapt into the unknown, defying gravity metaphorically and for real.
Kristina Norman introduces us to women from Ukraine who moved to Italy and became live-in caregivers to the elderly, carrying the burden of their final years while also literally picking them up and laying them down again many times a day. At the same time Norman follows Italy’s only female astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, who transcends life’s difficulties by seeking out a state of weightlessness. The performance format of a documentary combined with elements of poetry and dance asks what role our work plays in the pursuit of happiness? How can we defy gravity even down here on earth, where do we find the strength to not fall apart under life’s weight?
