Bazaar Festival is celebrating its 10th year. It could be a time to take stock, but that’s not really our style. So instead, for our 10th anniversary, we’ve invited to the Czech theatre and dance scene a younger generation of artists from Central and Eastern Europe who emphasise not just the resulting work, but, above all, the practice. The theme of this year’s edition is COURAGEOUS PRACTICES. Experience them for yourself from 15-25 March at PONEC - the dance venue, Alfred ve dvoře, Divadlo X10, Archa+ and other locations in Prague. We are pleased to announce an open call for artists in residence, who will present their emerging work during the Saturday Bazaar (25 March 2023), part of the Bazaar Festival’s 2023 programme.

What threatens society today? What long-term problems and issues are we dealing with? Europe, and with it the whole world, is not only stirred by war, but also other socio-political problems. We have discussed the climate crisis and the state of our landscape for many years, always with increasing urgency. These debates do not just play out in political circles; culture also gets significantly involved in the shape of the world and society. How are progressive, unconventional artists from central and eastern Europe responding to these issues? Prague’s Bazaar Festival of Theatre and Dance presents the work of these artists in its 8th edition, which begins now and runs through Sunday, 27 March.
